Format: 12" Vinyl
Genre: Hard Trance

A real turn up for the books here and flying in the face of fashion are Holland’s Nero Records with a release that’s only coming out on vinyl. Whether that’s a sound decision remains to be seen but in the meantime let’s hear what the black plastic will sound like with Sixth Sense’s Dark Vizion.

I’m expecting a typically strong and European flavour and I’m not disappointed. It’s dark with plenty of pounding reverse bass, tight kick and unsettling unexpected breaks. The main breakdown gently leads us down an atmospheric and subtly twisted route before the lead synth takes hold and drops back in with plenty of power and energy. An acid line adds to the flavour before a final mini break that kicks you back with that thunderous European bass line. I like this, good powerful stuff.

On remix duties here are Nick the Kid & Tektonic. A high hat and synth stab combination kicks this off which builds to another monstrous bass line. More acid lines are introduced and remain at the front, building and dropping as the track progresses. The lush synth chords draw you in before you’re back to the same lead with a slight twist in sound and effect. This is less segmented than the original, the break is almost non-existent but the upside of this is it creates a track with no time to pause and drives you through right till the end. Another solid effort.
